Planning Minister MA Mannan today said the government has taken necessary measures to accelerate implementation of the Annual Development Programme (ADP).
“The rate of ADP implementation is good. I am giving necessary instructions to the Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Division (IMED) for accelerating their project monitoring activities. I want to speed up the project implementation process more,” he said.
The minister told a programme on “State of Bangladesh Economy: Managing Vulnerabilities and Creating Sustainable Growth” at Policy Research Institute (PRI) in the city.
PRI Chairman Dr Zaidi Sattar and Director Dr Ahmed Ahsan gave the keynote speeches at the function.
Mannan said political stability is very important for sustainable development of the country. The government is establishing National Skill Development Council (NSDC) to create more skilled manpower for meeting the growing demand of the country’s industrial sector as well as the demand of Bangladeshi manpower in other countries, including middle-east countries, he added.
The planning minister said the government will ensure urban facilities in the rural areas as the government made a pledge in its election manifesto in the last general election.
“Most urban facilities have already ensured in villages across the country and village will get facilities like town,” he added.
PRI urged the authorities concerned to take initiatives for reforming the banking sector and tax system, revamping the trade policy for exports and prioritizing education, labour skill, urban and infrastructure development.
