President M Abdul Hamid yesterday urged the members of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh to project the real history of the country's Liberation War.
"You should work as the 'think-tank' at national and international levels . . . You must work to project the country's real history and custom," the President told a five-member delegation of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh that called on him at Bangabhaban here in the yesterday afternoon.
President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Abdul Hamid expressed satisfaction over the activities of the society and assured that it would be provided with all-out support in conducting its activities.
They apprised the President of the overall activities of the Asiatic Society and its future plans, including Encyclopedia of War of Liberation, National Atlas of Bangladesh, and Digitised Data and e-publication. They sought cooperation from the President in running the Asiatic Society. Asiatic Society president Prof Amirul Islam Chowdhury led the delegation that included Prof Mahfuza Khanam, Prof Sharif Uddin Ahmed, Ekram Ahmed and Prof AKM Golam Rabbani. Secretaries concerned to the President were present during the meeting.
