Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) yesterday said Bangladesh is on the right track to achieve the targets of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in terms of legal, policy and institutional infrastructures.
"Bangladesh is on the right track to achieve the targets of SDGs in terms of satisfactory legal and institutional infrastructures," TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman said at a research report publication programme at TIB office here.
TIB organized the programme titled 'Sustainable Development Goal 16: Preparedness, Progress and Challenges of Bangladesh, A Study of Selected Targets."
TIB Senior Programme Manager (Research and Policy) Shahjada M Akram presented the research paper while TIB Trusty Board Chairperson Sultana Kamal, TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman, TIB Advisor Professor Dr Sumaiya Khair and Director (Research and Policy) Mohammad Rafiqul Hassan, among others were present.
Compared to other countries, Bangladesh gives more access to information, according to TIB.
TIB said the formation of Right to Information Act-2009 and Information Commission, and the implementation of the information law are satisfactory.
The TIB also think that the activities of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and National Human Rights Commission are positive.
